EdTech
The effect of Covid-19 restrictions hit young people the hardest. The pandemic was a forceful reminder that digitization in education plays an important role in delivering not just academic learning, but also in supporting physical and emotional well-being. EdTechs are particularly close to the technical spirit of the times. They offer valuable support to students, schools and teachers and serve their needs. More and more educators are embracing digital solutions to further fill their classrooms with inspiration, engagement, and motivation. The EdTech category is powered by Vodafone Stiftung Deutschland.
"Actively shaping the digital world requires new skills. We need to understand new technologies, to assess the fundamental changes and to find creative solutions for the challenges of the 21st century. That is why Vodafone Stiftung Deutschland is rethinking education for the digital society. With our educational program “Coding For Tomorrow”, we are providing the youth with opportunities to experience digital education – in our Coding Hub in Düsseldorf, together with our partner schools all over Germany or online. And with “Klickwinkel”, we are helping young people to become independent and self-confident media users. The programs are supported and inspired by the studies and papers of our Think Tank."
Why is digitization of education important?
Digital education allows us to include everyone and to address the individual needs of each person. Digital education also means preparing for the world and the workplace of tomorrow. And digital education allows us to respond more quickly to new topics. In short, it is the key to participation in a digital world: at work, as a consumer, as a citizen. At the same time, new opportunities for education are emerging through digitization: new didactic tools, dissemination channels and access to knowledge.
How does Vodafone Stiftung support startups in reshaping the education landscape?
We are committed to supporting educational startups in reshaping the education landscape. With our international Vodafone Foundation program, we have supported several startups across Europe and Africa. By supporting EdTechs, we are helping to bridge the digital divide and provide access to quality education to students who might otherwise be left behind. These startups are reshaping the education landscape by creating innovative solutions to longstanding challenges and bringing new ideas and approaches to teaching and learning.
You are category partner of the Innovators‘ Pitch. What do you expect from the event?
Part of our work is to accompany students and young people, listen to their wishes and concerns and bring their concerns to the attention of politics and educational stakeholders. Lately, EdTechs have become an essential part of the educational stakeholder system. They are key innovators for new ways of effective learning, they accompany students through their lifelong education journey and their solutions address needs where state owned services fail or do not meet the individual needs of teachers and students. Hearing about what they see as current challenges and which approach the education sector should choose is an essential part of our work. We are looking forward to see what solutions EdTechs are providing, discuss how we can jointly create an impact and see how we can support EdTechs in their work.
We’re thrilled to have Vodafone Stiftung Deutschland as a partner for our EdTech category at this year’s Innovators‘ Pitch! Applications for this category are open until May 31st, 2023. Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to apply!
