Russ Eling is the Founder of OSS Consultants - a business dedicated to helping organizations of all sizes manage their use of open source software. They help organizations with everything from scanning and audit services, to building an entire open source program. OSS Consultants is an official OpenChain Partner, and offer services for both OpenChain ISO:5230 for compliance, as well as ISO:18974 for Security Assurance Specification conformance. Before starting the company, Russ spent over 20 years in several Engineering roles at General Motors. He had responsibility for designing and implementing a successful open source governance program at GM, which was among the first of its kind in 2013, and was once regarded as among the most comprehensive OSS programs in the automotive industry. As the Open Source Compliance Officer, Russ built the OSPO responsible for reviewing software in every part used in every GM vehicle across the globe. Today, Russ and the rest of the team at OSS Consultants offer their recognized, industry-leading expertise to help companies of all sizes – scan, audit and report on their software, as well as helping them to create efficient, comprehensive and robust open-source program offices.
