The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) published guidelines on pseudonymisation under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The guidelines are intended to clarify how pseudonymisation can be used as a technical and organisational tool to protect personal data from unintended identification and at the same time take operational interests into account.
This position paper is Bitkom's contribution to the EDPB’s public consultation. It analyses the guidelines, assesses their impact and provides recommendations for practical implementation and further development from the perspective of our members.
