Bitkom views on data protection issues relating to the development and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) brings with it immense opportunities for our society and economy. At the same time, we are facing significant challenges, particularly with regard to the protection of personal data. This topic is of central importance to Bitkom.

In our current statement, we highlight the most important problems that companies of all sizes experience when developing and using AI in accordance with data protection requirements. At the same time, we present concrete ideas and solutions on how to achieve a balance between innovation, data protection and economic competitiveness.

Only through legal clarity, technological support and the involvement of all relevant stakeholders can we fully exploit the potential of AI in Europe while protecting the rights of citizens.
