In February 2025, the European Commission launched the Call for Evidence initiative for the Savings and Investment Union. The goal is to channel savings into productive investments – particularly in innovation, decarbonization, digital technologies, and defense.
Bitkom welcomes the Commission’s efforts to finally address obstacles to the free movement of capital. However, it is crucial to avoid new complexities and reduce bureaucracy. A fragmented implementation at the national level must be prevented.
