Revision of the EU Directive on Intelligent Transport Systems
Bitkom welcomes the revision of the ITS Directive and the EU Commission's intention to accelerate the deployment of smart, multimodal and sustainable mobility. The digitisation of transport infrastructures and mobility services offers manifold opportunities, which are, at present, not being exploited to the full. Therefore, we advocate for establishing a harmonised, technology-neutral regulatory framework, stimulating innovation and market-based technology choices. However, to create an enabling environment für (C-)ITS, some key aspects like technology neutrality, interoperability and data sharing on a mainly voluntary basis and under the principle of data privacy need further attention.
