Innovative Digital Transformation requires Conceptual Mindset and Conceptual Leadership
Digital transformation in business and society is one of the megatrends of our time. It is associated with the hope of creating innovative and sustainable solutions based on digital technologies that deliver added value for customers. At the same time, it is also associated with the challenge of proactively changing and further developing organisations. This makes it clear that digital transformation is not exclusively a technical topic, but also places demands on corporate culture, the development of agile organisational structures and the leadership of employees.
In the working groups Digital Design and Usability & User Experience, we have been discussing for a long time how to focus more on the design aspect of digital transformation. Because one thing is clear: a successful digital transformation takes into account the entire field of tension between the wishes and needs of the users, the economic framework conditions and the technical possibilities.
The basis for a holistic view of problems, taking into account all framework conditions and restrictions, has always been good conceptual work. But what exactly does that mean? And what space should conceptual work occupy in projects? This paper aims to provide answers to these questions.
